A little help to get you some extra money

Love tokens, a good source of gold

WoWScrnShot_022214_120707Hi all,

Maybe a bit late, but i still wanted to share how Love Token can be a good source of gold during the Love is in the Air event. This is especially relevant once you finished all the achievements for the festival, and dont have enough time left to save up tokens for the Swift Love Bird.

When you do all the dailies, and the daily instance you get about 40 Love Tokens a day. Spend those on 2 Lovely Dress Boxes. From those you can get 1 of (links to for realm history prices): Lovely Purple DressLovely Blue DressLovely Red DressLovely Black Dress. These should be easily sellable for about 200g – 500g (depending on the dress). If not now, certainly later this year.

Of course you may do something else to make money on your Love Tokens, feel free to share if you do. If you currently do nothing with them, and / or have a pile of ‘useless’ Lovely Charms sitting in your bags I’d do the above for the next 2 days if I were you. May just be a nice 1200 – 1600 gold in about 30 minutes of work spread over 2 days.

Wont make you rich, but just may be some nice extra gold for some of you. Enjoy!

Preparing for profit! Goldmaking guide

When ordering WoD, you will receive a free level 90 character boost. While this may be a relief to some (I’m looking at you Wiceroy), it smells like piles of gold to others. Countless alts will be created, and they will all need pretty much everything. Here is what I think you should be preparing for:

Opportunity 1: Glyphs
Time investment: very high, you’re looking at reposting every 1-2 hours for optimal results.
Gold investment: roughly 15.000 gold (15K) minimum to buy herbs or inks.
Dependencies: suppliers of herbs or inks, number of glyphs learned by your inscriptionist(s).
Risk profile: being more in control of the market lowers your risk, very high investment required.
Use of addons: TSM or advanced use of Auctioneer/Auctionator mandatory to allow constant reposting and stock/craft management.

mats 2

Opportunity 2: Bags
Time investment: limited, reposting once or twice per day should be sufficient.
Gold investment:

  1. Crafting Netherweave bags: very low, buying or farming a few stacks and crafting is enough to make a small cashflow (500 gold minimum)
  2. Crafting Embersilk bags: probably most profitable when farming the mats yourself (potion of treasure finding shouldn’t be overlooked here) (1-2K minimum for buying remaining hypnotic dust)
  3. Reselling Royal Satchels: very high, 50-150k, resale strategy

Risk Profile: netherweave bags and embersilk bags very low, royal satchels very high (only recommended for experienced goldmakers with large cashflows).
Dependency: mats for the netherweave bags are usually widely available. Materials for embersilk bags are easily farmable (although quite some competition on farm spots) but sometimes hypnotic dusts becomes scarce. Therefore, stock up on especially hypnotic dust. Royal Satchels are cooldown dependent, although mob farmers sometimes can spare enough spirits of harmony to craft more than one per day (although this strategy focusses on resale instead of crafting).
Use of addons: TSM can be useful, but not mandatory at all.
Warning: do not flood the market with items, this may cause the price to drop.

mats 3

Opportunity 3: Gear crafts
Don’t bother with malevolent pvp crafts. Level 90 boosted characters will receive a set of 483 greens. Unless the crafting professions will learn how to craft 496 pvp gear. Of course there’s the hardcore pvp-er but be aware that the 476 pvp crafts market is highly populated. What you want to focus on is 522 (head and feet) and 553 (belt and legs) crafts. Wise guys amongst you might be thinking… could the prices of Haunting Spirits rise even higher (yes they can!).
Time investment: limited, reposting every 12-24 hours is probably enough. In addition a weekly ToT disenchant run can be highly profitable (thanks Disciplined for this tip).
Gold investment: considerable. You will need to invest in Trillium Bar, Living Steel, Windwool Cloth, Exotic Leather, Ghost Iron Bar, Haunting Spirit and Spirit of War (depending on your army of crafters ofc).
Risk Profile: relatively low, as long as you keep an eye on your investment vs market price ratio’s.
Dependency: materials to ignore the daily crafting cooldowns: spirits of war and haunting spirits (stock up while they are cheap!).
Use of addons: TSM can be useful, but not mandatory at all.

mats 1

Opportunity 4: Item enhancement
We’re talking gems, enchants, belt buckles, you name it! All these characters will get gear upgrades, and they will need to modify them: kaching!

Opportunity 5: EVERYTHING
What will any selfrespecting new alt do? Level professions! And what does one need for a new profession? Every single annoying material ingame. Clear out your banks, mine those ores as you pass them, buy every single low gem and repost at 500%, its yours for the taking.

mats 4

When will this happen?
There’s no exact way of knowing at this point. All I can say for now is anywhere between this weeks patch and the WoD pre-patch. What I do know is, now is the time to stock up!

Good luck and prosper!

Farming chests part 2: Ancient Guo-Lai Caches

As of now, I have 5 Skyshards out of the 10 needed to kill Alani. Once I get the 5 remaining I will be the proud owner of yet another Thundering Ruby Cloud Serpent, which I intend to sell.

farming vale aoe

As the grind is tedious and long, I wondered, would the farm itself be worth it on its own? I kill mogu’s till the end of dawn in the Vale of Eternal Blossom. Since Garrosh corrupted the Vale a lot has changed. So Mogu are really the best mobs to farm when you’re hoping for a drop of a Skyshard.

Here’s what you get from farming the Mogu’s in the vale (aside from those aweful skyshards).

In 1 hour of farming I obtained:
1. Money: 3.245 gold (based on gold looted and theoretical sale price of mats according to
2. Reputation: over 10.000 BoA reputation with the Golden Lotus
3. Skyshards: 1

How did I do this?

I used 3 potions of luck. They each last 20 minutes and cost 1 golden lotus to make. I farmed the Mogu in these area’s of the vale:

mogu farm spots

During the 1-hour farm I looted (amongst other stuff) 21 Ancient Guo-Lai Cache Keys. After opening all chests this is what was in my bags:

Vale farming results

Keep in mind before I started farming my gold total was 180K exactly. The potions of luck were not looted and I already had 4 out of 5 Skyshards.

To show you how awesome it is to loot these chests, here’s a video of Dorelei looting all 21 of them:

Gold-making with Treasure Chests!

I’ve been a bit slacky when it comes to gold-making lately. I don’t really post any auctions, I don’t craft anything. I just.. spend gold. But I’m always interested in finding a new way of making gold.

During Cataclysm I was aware of treasure chests, but at that time I was always told that there was a maximum of 1 chest up per zone (in Cataclysm area’s). Given that I would be the one getting it, odds were very low of it being a solid gold-making method (apart from the occasional find). However, since I decided to give the Camel Figurine another try, I ran into 2-3 chests in Uldum, which caught my attention.

Mornings are usually a good time to find rares, treasure chests and other odd items. As the few quiet hours on the server give everything some time to respawn.. this is when the Dorelei strikes. Yesterday I found the following items in Uldum, Deepholm and Vash’jir:
Downfall Hammer (250-350 gold)
Ravenheart Longbow  650-700 gold)
Dirk’s Command (1750-2500 gold)
Skeletalized Shoulderpads (150-200 gold)

Today I decided to quickly scout all Cataclysm zones, and this is what I found:
Endwyn’s Flickering Gauntlets (200-250 gold)
Trek’s Shiv (100-200 gold)
Soul’s Anguish (1250-2000 gold)
Rage-Possessed Greatsword (3000-4000 gold)
Chestguard of the Caring Ursine (200-300 gold)
Eye of Heaven (150-200 gold)
Falling Snow Bracers (150-200 gold)

So where does one find these treasure chests?

Not as straightforward to find as you might think. Gathermate 2 and Gathermate Data 2 provide me with some of the chests, but never all of them. I ended up looking up every single type of chest on wowhead and seeing where they would spawn in the Cata zones. Now you’re probably are not going to make the same effort, and I must say Gathermate does a pretty good job. But if you want to check all locations, you’re going to have to work the same way as I did. Don’t forget add-ons like Tom Tom, so you can quickly enter coordinates per zone and do your fly-by.

All the best, Dorelei.
